Kirsty Piercy Virtual Assistant has provided bookkeeping and finance support to Ward & Masters Carpentry on a regular basis since July.

Despite having set up Xero the directors were unable to keep up to date with data entry, having outsourced the VAT returns to their accountant they felt they were missing up to date financial information.

In order to have a better grip on finances and a good understanding of their business performance and expected cashflow, Ward & Masters Carpentry outsourced finance and bookkeeping duties to Kirsty Piercy Virtual Assistant.

In addition to working on Xero to keep Ward & Masters data up to date, a review was undertaken of how the business was using Xero and what improvements could be made.

In the role of Head of Global Finance and Operations, Kirsty Piercy used Xero on a daily basis, including:

  • Daily review of outstanding invoices and debtor position.
  • Review of bank reconciliations for over 10 bank accounts, including currency accounts.
  • Training finance staff on how to use Xero for day to day duties, including raising invoices, entering supplier invoices, completing bank reconciliations and more.
  • Exporting and manipulating the source data to produce reports specific to the business.
  • Using the fixed asset register to record assets and calculate and post depreciation.
  • Entering journals for wages reconciliation and dividend payments.
  • Preparing and submitting the quarterly VAT return.
  • Processing other journals in order to complete the year-end figures for final check and review by the company accountants.
